About Passion Coins

From a curious collection of change in 2013, Passion Coins – based in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds – grew from an occasional hobby into a fascination with the world of coins and coin collecting.

Change in hand

It all started in 2008 with finding different old £1 coins in a handful of change. We started collecting, and this expanded to finding the majority of 50 pence pieces, and then £2 coins, currently in circulation. Our interests evolved. They matured, with further curiosity about Pre-decimal British Coinage and coins from British Commonwealth and Colonies.

Vision and Mission

We’re working towards a world where coin collecting, and wider Numismatics, remains an affordable and enjoyable pastime, supported by accessible and accurate information and a transparent trading. 

We’re achieving this step by step, with Passion Coins taking the lead in encouraging numismatics, and providing up to date knowledge and understanding available to all, for free, including free valuations. We’re keen to help new collectors and established Numismatists alike. Quite simply, we support coin collectors and encourage Numismatics – the remarkable discipline of studying and collecting coins and currency.

We aim to provide practical solutions to your enquiries about British coins in a way that exceeds your expectations and makes Numismatics available to all. We want to share our enthusiasm and knowledge with coin collectors in the United Kingdom in a way which is transparent, supportive and useful.

Our ethos is integrity. It informs everything we do and the way we do it. So we’re fiercely democratic when it comes to coins. There’s no such thing as an ugly coin, and each one, no matter how humble, comes with its own history and story. Our approach is innovative and open – we’re always looking for ways to improve what we do – and it is designed to reflect our respect for coins and coin collectors everywhere. From the beginner inspecting the coins in their hand, to the expert with remarkable collections, we’re here to help you find out more.

We really are all about service

At Passion Coins we don’t buy or sell coins as a business, although we may trade sometimes to raise funds to maintain our website and provide services. Any profit raised will be reinvested back into the numismatic community in the UK.

At Passion Coins we are constantly improving and expanding our services. We can give you a helping hand to estimate the value of your coins for personal reasons and insurance or probate purposes. We also occasionally buy coins, single items or collections; sometimes we can act as an agent and offer items to professional coin dealers who will pay best prices for the right items. We can also assist you in auctioning any numismatic material. 

And, oh, yes, …all these services are totally free. However, if we recommend a 3rd party to help with the process, then charges may apply.
